my name is Karinda, and I’m here to help you have better periods.

I’m a qualified Naturopath,
Natural Fertility Educator
& Menstrual Cycle Guide

I combine the healing potential of naturopathic medicine, fertility awareness and menstrual cycle awareness to bring people like you the best possible periods, period.

Being a naturopath means I look at your whole state of health — past & present — and focus on where you want to be.

I aim to find what’s causing your current health concerns and treat that ‘root’ cause, instead of suppressing disease which can lead to long-term harm.

Doing this work involves treating YOU as a whole person. Your physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, social & cellular health, and your purpose on this Earth. There is much less focus on diseases, diagnoses or labels that have been put upon you (which can be so limiting & unhelpful)

my passion is to support women like you with your periods, hormones & cycles — using natural medicine & the naturopathic principles.

I strive to help the women I work with to achieve harmonious hormones, easeful periods & regular cycles. In particular, I LOVE working with women to overcome issues such as…

acne
(hormonal & post-pill)

In my years of clinical experience, I’ve had great success helping many people overcome these conditions using my wholistic, natural and tailored-to-you approach.

Another of my passions is Menstrual Cycle Awareness; I love to help women understand their menstrual cycles and gain a deeper understanding of their bodies, rhythms and feminine flow. I love creating resources & guides on Menstrual Cycles. Understanding and exploring the different cycle phases is key for resolving hormonal imbalances & period problems. I also teach women the artful practice of the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM), which provides a thorough insight into their cycles & offers practical tools they can apply to observe their fertile window and avoid (or achieve) pregnancy.

my personal health journey

Living a pretty unhealthy life, fuelled by fussy & disordered eating for too many years and inactivity, my lifestyle choices eventually caught up to my body.

Starting from primary school, the health issues that arose for me included chronic digestive upset, recurring tonsillitis, pimples/blackheads/acne, fatigue, adrenal insufficiency, anxiety, depression, random skin issues (and a whole lot more in between).

It wasn’t until a bout of glandular fever kicked me in the guts at 16 years old, sent me to the hospital and led me to see a naturopath for the first time. It was life-changing!

Since these adolescent health problems, I’ve experienced my own issues with PCOS, PMS and painful periods. From 14 years old, I was on the pill for a few years (and convinced many a friend to try it for their own menstrual concerns…). Thankfully, I was called to go inward and work wholistically with myself, and nature, to manage these conditions and feel my best.

Using natural medicine, I’ve achieved regular cycles, emotional balance and pain-free periods. Phew! It’s been one heck of a journey, to say the least!

Once I realised this was something I could complete a Bachelor’s degree in, I knew exactly how I wanted to help people (and what I wanted to study post-high school).

even though I haven’t walked in your shoes, I know what it’s like to be on a journey with chronic, recurring illness — and the frustration that comes with that.

The healing power of nature is far greater than one can imagine.

everything is connected

As a holistic practitioner, I work with you on the basis that all systems in your body are connected. Even your past experiences & current environment have an impact on all aspects of your being.

After 5 years of uni & supervised clinical practice, with ongoing professional development & further education, I realised a great interest I had in a field called psycho-neuro-endocrinology.

This essentially means I love working with the connection between your psychology (emotional & mental health), nervous system (brain, spine, nerves, neurotransmitters & response to stress) and endocrine system (all things hormones, including stress & sex hormones related to your menstrual health).

I love this field because it’s such a clear example of one of the core underpinnings of naturopathy: that everything in your experience is connected.

I pride myself on learning more and more about how trauma (of all kinds) & nervous system regulation plays a role in this dynamic field.

qualifications + education

  • A 4-year degree including clinical supervision, where I learned the ins and outs of naturopathic philosophy, human biology, pathology, nutritional biochemistry, pharmacology, herbal medicine, food as medicine, nutrition, flower essences, myotherapy & naturopathic hydrotherapy. Graduated with distinction from Endeavour College of Natural Health

  • An accredited short course run by Kerry Hampton of Wise Woman Business. This empowers me with the knowledge & tools to teach women the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) for natural pregnancy prevention or conception. Specifically, the symptothermal method (STM) and Billings method are focused on.

  • This upholds me to a code of conduct for Naturopaths within Australia, allows me to dispense natural medicines & ensures I continue developing my knowledge and skills with professional education. As a member of the NHAA, I am also insured for professional practice as a naturopath using herbal medicine

  • An ongoing study via the School of Evolutionary Herbalism, which entails the advanced holistic application of herbs, how they can be used for specific constitutions and prescribing herbs based on energetic tissue states. This looks at the tone, temperature and moisture of a disease state, and how to apply appropriate herbs to use for various conditions

In addition to these official qualifications, I’m dedicated to ongoing professional education and this covers A LOT of fields. I’m always looking to develop my skills and knowledge of trauma-informed practice and pride myself on practicing in a trauma-aware way. This trickles into my interest & research (and self-practice) of transformational modalities that are based on the body storing emotions/trauma, including Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT/Tapping), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), somatic psychotherapy and life coaching.

I also started a Diploma of Counselling — not sure I’ll ever get around to finishing it (Manifesting Generator over here, IYKYK!) but it remains true that I’ll always be passionate about holistic psychology, being a good listener & guiding people back to their own wisdom and power, even in the face of challenging circumstances & emotions.

This interest & knowledge that I hold in these areas naturally flows into my sessions where appropriate & consented to.
